Perpustakaan Pelangi Indonesia

Perpustakaan Pelangi Indonesia adalah perpustakaan yang berada dibawah naungan Pelangi Indonesia. Perpustakaan ini mulai dikelola secara sederhana pada tahun 2000 dan kemudian dibenahi agar lebih tertata rapi ketika memasuki tahun 2001.

Perpustakaan ini didirikan dengan maksud dan tujuan untuk mendukung kegiatan lembaga induknya dalam melakukan riset dan advokasi kebijakan, serta untuk membantu kebutuhan masyarakat akan akses informasi dan pengetahuan yang terkait dengan isu lingkungan.

Pelangi Indonesiaadalah organisasi nir-laba dan independen yang berperan sebagai lembaga kajian untuk mendorong kebijakan publik di bidang perubahan iklim, energi dan transportasi dalam kerangka keadilan sosial dan keberlanjutan fungsi-fungsi lingkungan

El Nino dan Tiga Indikator Pengaruhi Musim Kemarau

Jakarta, Kompas - Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika saat ini terus memantau fenomena El Nino yang disertai tiga indikator lainnya, yaitu Dipole Mode, Madden Julian Oscillation, dan perubahan angin muson timur. Ke- empat fenomena ini berpengaruh secara serempak terhadap musim kemarau yang akan berlangsung di wilayah Indonesia.
”Sekarang ini tidak bisa lagi melihat data yang berdiri sendiri, seperti halnya El Nino yang diperingatkan NOAA (The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Amerika Serikat,” kata Kepala Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika Sri Woro B Harijono dalam konferensi pers mengenai Prakiraan Musim Kemarau 2010 di Indonesia, Selasa (9/3) di Jakarta.[read]

Europe's new climate chief sought to reinvigorate international climate talks on Tuesday, laying out a strategy for the EU to lead the world by example.With talks blocked by inaction in the United States, the global economic crisis and mounting skepticism over climate science, Connie Hedegaard said the EU would demonstrate how to meet its green goals while creating jobs and boosting economies."The EU must continue to take leadership," she told the European Parliament. "The most convincing way Europe can do so is by taking tangible and determined action domestically to become the most climate-friendly region in the world."[read]

 

China And India Endorse Copenhagen Climate Deal

China and India joined almost all other major greenhouse gas emitters Tuesday in signing up to the climate accord struck in Copenhagen, boosting a deal strongly favored by the United States.More than 100 nations have now endorsed the Copenhagen Accord, a non-binding agreement reached after two weeks of tortuous wrangling at a 194-nation summit in December.
The accord plans $100 billion a year in climate aid for developing nations from 2020 and seeks to limit global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6F) above pre-industrial times, but produced no timetable of emission limits to reach that goal.[read]

The ratification of Russia as a party to the Kyoto Protocol has relatively secured the global efforts up to 2012, it is time to move to the question “what to do beyond 2012”? Will industrialized countries lead? Can EU provide credible leadership for climate policy? What are the views for Japan? What about the US with their non-Kyoto efforts? And, what about the developing countries? How can the negotiation on “beyond 2012” commence smoothly, given developing countries are rather reluctant to start? What are the current discussion in the developing countries? And Indonesia?
