Perpustakaan Pelangi Indonesia

Perpustakaan Pelangi Indonesia adalah perpustakaan yang berada dibawah naungan Pelangi Indonesia. Perpustakaan ini mulai dikelola secara sederhana pada tahun 2000 dan kemudian dibenahi agar lebih tertata rapi ketika memasuki tahun 2001.

Perpustakaan ini didirikan dengan maksud dan tujuan untuk mendukung kegiatan lembaga induknya dalam melakukan riset dan advokasi kebijakan, serta untuk membantu kebutuhan masyarakat akan akses informasi dan pengetahuan yang terkait dengan isu lingkungan.

Pelangi Indonesiaadalah organisasi nir-laba dan independen yang berperan sebagai lembaga kajian untuk mendorong kebijakan publik di bidang perubahan iklim, energi dan transportasi dalam kerangka keadilan sosial dan keberlanjutan fungsi-fungsi lingkungan

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday rejected 10 petitions challenging EPA's 2009 finding that climate-warming greenhouse gas emissions endanger human health and the environment.The EPA received petitions questioning the scientific basis for the so-called endangerment finding -- which cleared the way for the EPA to curb carbon dioxide emissions -- from Texas and Virginia and groups like the Ohio Coal Association.[read]

Melting glaciers, more humid air and eight other key indicators show that global warming is undeniable, scientists said on Wednesday, citing a new comprehensive review of the last decade of climate data.Without addressing why this is happening, the researchers said there was no doubt that every decade on Earth since the 1980s has been hotter than the previous one, and that the planet has been warming for the last half-century.[read]

The United Nations' climate secretariat on Thursday issued 228,400 Kyoto Protocol carbon offsets to three Asian clean energy projects, ending a two-week issuance drought but failing to reassure concerned investors. Surabaya, Kompas - Suhu permukaan laut di sekitar Jawa Timur menghangat. Akibatnya, penguapan air laut lebih tinggi sehingga hujan tetap terjadi pada musim kemarau.
Prakirawan Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) Juanda, Ari Pulong, mengatakan, fenomena ini disebut kemarau basah. Meski sudah masuk musim kemarau, di beberapa wilayah, seperti Surabaya dan sekitarnya, masih hujan dengan intensitas rendah hingga sedang. ”Kemarau basah lazim terjadi apabila suhu air laut naik,” kata Ari, Rabu (28/7) di Surabaya.[read]

The ratification of Russia as a party to the Kyoto Protocol has relatively secured the global efforts up to 2012, it is time to move to the question “what to do beyond 2012”? Will industrialized countries lead? Can EU provide credible leadership for climate policy? What are the views for Japan? What about the US with their non-Kyoto efforts? And, what about the developing countries? How can the negotiation on “beyond 2012” commence smoothly, given developing countries are rather reluctant to start? What are the current discussion in the developing countries? And Indonesia?
